“Creating Born and Raised

From “An Evening With John Mayer” at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, CA on May 10, 2012 here’s John Mayer on the making of his last album “Born And Raised”. There are some wise words in this story, to which every artistic human being can relate. Check it out. Childhood favorites. These guys are touring again. I hope they’ll add an European leg to their tour.

Benjamin Zander on music and passion. Simply beautiful.

Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it — and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections. (source: TED.com)

Schizophonic

Back to the guitar. Lately I keep re-discovering early guitar and musical heros of mine. One main influence on my playing was (well, actually still is) Nuno Bettencourt, former Extreme, Mourning Widows and Population1 axe-man. I have followed him since Pornograffitti and must have played a thousand riffs of this man. I can dream that album from a-z, seriously.

In 1997, right after Extreme was done, Nuno produced and released his only solo album titled Schizophonic and was simply credited under the name Nuno. It never got that much attention from the crowd.

To me it’s his best work out there. Recorded on a 4-tracker and most instruments played by himself. Schizophonic is perharps one of the most underrated guitar oriented albums of the past 25 years. Here’s Crave. I still can’t get enough of that solo.

I bumped into Kutiman's The Mother Of All Funk Chords again. Simply an amazing piece of art. And the tune is grooving big time.
